Augur

Needs analysis

A needs analysis for Augur research agency during my 3 month internship.

Client: Augur

Brief: Needs analysis project management

Date: March - June 2020

Duration: 3 months

My role: Intern insight and service design

Learning: I learned a lot during this period. My biggest learnings were;

- Challenging the brief

- Managing stakeholders

- Managing a project independently

WHY?

During my education at Hyper Island I did my internship at Augur (the human experience agency) because I wanted to learn about how to conduct good research. And because I wanted to learn about service design. This project was handed to me as a learning experience to practice managing my own project. I had managed projects before however, never independently. This was a great learning full of fun challenges.

1. INTERVIEWS

In total I interviewd 14 employees of the company for 30 minutes each. And I focussed on mapping out their working processes.

When does a client come in, what happends next and how does a project end?

2. ANALYSIS

After the interviews I analysed the input by mapping out and structuring up the gained information.

3. INSIGHTS

From the information and analysis i contracted gain and pain points. Found problems and created actions to solve them in order to create efficiency and innovation.

4. END DELIVERABLE

The end deliverable was a presentation that I made in Figma. Here I talked about my process my insights and actions.

THE PROCESS

All the steps in the process deeper explained.

1. INTERVIEWS

When I interviewed the employees of Augur I focussed mainly on their user journeys.

Where did they have good experiences while being in a project and what moment were less enjoyable.

What are the challenges they were facing within their daily work?

2. ANALYSIS

After the interviews I analysed the input by mapping out and structuring up the gained information.

I did this in Miro, a digital white board. I enjoy this kind of tool since the information is accessible at any point at any time.

3. INSIGHTS & ACTIONS

From the information and analysis i contracted gain and pain points. Found problems and created actions to solve them in order to create efficiency and innovation.

I transformed the augur logo into a character to make the message fun and engaging.

FEEDBACK

Feedback from Augur on this presentation

The feedback from Augur was very postive. They thought the prsentation was effective, efficient and that I was very calm while presenting this through Microsoft teams.

One point of constructive feedback that I got was to put more weight on the insight part of the presentation so they could understand better what insights were the most important ones. This feedback I will take with me into future projects.

4. END DELIVERABLE

The end deliverable was a presentation that I made in Figma. Here I talked about my process my insights and actions. I made illustrations that fitted the purpose and I added humour into it to make the presentation more engaging and fun to watch.
